CHRISTIAN MEDITATION UK CONFERENCE 4 – 6 APRIL, 2008 Worth Abbey Worth Abbey is situated in the beautiful Sussex Weald and is easily accessible by rail at Three Bridges station, or by car taking exit 10A from the M23. Worth Abbey is a Benedictine monastery, founded in 1933. At its heart is a community of 22 Catholic monks who follow the Rule of St Benedict. This 1500 year-old Rule still offers life-giving guidance to men and women today. The community run a school, a parish and a retreat house. Worth Abbey was recently the setting for the remarkable BBC series ‘The Monastery’. Accommodation Conference participants will be accommodated in Worth School. The 6th form house, Gervase House, offers 70 single rooms, all ensuite (Sorry - sold out). In the other houses single and shared rooms are also sold out. The non-resident fee includes lunch and supper but not breakfast. A few places left. Angela Ashwin Angela travels widely as a speaker on spirituality and as a retreat leader. She has written several books about contemplative prayer in every day life, including: ‘Heaven in Ordinary’ and ‘Patterns not Padlocks’. She has also compiled prayer anthologies including ‘The Book of a Thousand Prayers’ and written many books of reflections including ‘The Wine Danced’, which explores the ways in which Eucharistic themes can permeate everyday life and prayer. Her forthcoming book, ‘Follow the Fool’, is about the wisdom of foolishness in Christianity and other contexts. She is married to an Anglican priest, lives in Southwell in Nottinghamshire and has three grown up children. She is a lay canon of the Anglican Church.
